Pond excavation

On Friday 5th May 2015 a local contractor excavated the pond based on the plans painstakingly drawn up by Roland Ramsdale of Friends of the Emmbrook (FOTEB). The work was carried out after approval was sought and obtained from the Environment Agency with the agreement and support of Wokingham Borough Council’s Cleaner and Greener Services. Prior to this a letter was hand-delivered to nearby residents describing the proposed work.
A stepped area was excavated and a dam on the outflow side has been created with gabions. FOTEB removed, and have since replanted, vegetation around the pond. The next steps include some seating and an information board. Rain dances also required. The Bloom judges will be shown the pond on 24th July 2015.
